What to Expect From Your Newborn Session | Vancouver, WA Newborn Photographer

It is best to book your newborn session while you are still pregnant as newborns sessions must be done in the first 14 days of life. Babies are so squishy, sleepy and co-operative at this age that is allows for better posing, plus they will never be this small again. Please contact me as soon as possible after birth to arrange the exact date and time of your session.
When photographing newborns I work on their timeline, I let them call the shots. I will never force baby into a pose they aren't comfortable in or isn't natural, I will stop whenever necessary for feedings and changing. Because of this newborn sessions generally take 3 to 4 hours.
After your session it is time to go home and relax! I will go through the images from your session and select the best. Once I have the "final cut” selected, you are invited back to my studio to experience the moment you have been eagerly awaiting.
Ready to book your session? Get in touch! Brianna@bmwphotography.net
I can't wait to hear from you and create some beautiful memories together <3

My Photography Style | Vancouver, WA Newborn Photographer

Last week we talked about how to choose your photographer but this week I want to talk about my newborn photography style.
My style is light and airy as well as natural and organic. I love texture but I also heavily value simplicity. The backdrop is the foundation and I like to start with a simple and clean base to build up from. Props, layers are wraps are the structure and add dimension to the photo. I believe that props should support the overall photo, not outshine baby. Your little squish is really what you came to see and should be the star of the show. I love to use wraps and layers that are made from natural materials. I love solid color bonnets and simple dainty headbands and I believe that real vintage items make the best props.
I want your photos to be something you are proud to hang up on the walls in your home and your session to be something you can look back on fondly.
Cheers, Brianna

How to Choose Your Newborn Photographer | Sullivan's Newborn Session | Vancouver, WA Newborn Photographer

First off, you will need to determine what style calls to you. When you imagine photos of your precious baby on the wall, what do you see? Do you see a photo that is simple and clean, soft and organic or dark and moody? Look around at some photos on the internet, do you love photos that are heavily edited or have a more natural feel? Do you like photos that are simple or do you like more texture? Do you prefer photos that are posed or are you wanting more of a lifestyle feel?
Once you have a good idea of what you style you are looking for you can start to look at photographers in your area. No matter who you choose to capture this precious time, make sure they take safety seriously! I can not stress this enough, you are trusting this person to handle your precious little baby, make sure they make you feel comfortable and do not hesitate to ask them questions. Newborns are so delicate, they don't yet have strong immune systems, it is crucial that your photographer understands this and has procedures in place to ensure the safety of your baby.
Don't expect your session to be cheap. Experienced newborn photographers will have tons of training on how to properly handle, pose and photograph your baby. There are so many tools and items that are needed to make sure your baby is not only safe but is comfortable during their session. An inexpensive photographer is far less likely to have the experience needed to safely and properly photograph your precious little one. Newborn photography is a luxury but an experienced photographer will provide you with the care and attention that you deserve.
If you take these things into consideration and do a little bit of research you are sure to find the perfect photographer for you.
Join me next week and I discuss what to expect from your newborn session. Until the enjoy these photos of little Sullivan and check out his momma's maternity sessions posted this past weekend

I love it when parents bring in their own item. It really adds a unique touch to their session. This little guy's big sister wore this same outfit during her newborn session. How cool is that!

Autumn is Almost Here!! | Lewisville Park Maternity Session | Vancouver, WA Family Photographer

It feels like we just dusted off the sandals and pull the shorts out from the back of the drawer but summer is almost to a close already. I am a true blue Pacific Northwest girl and even though I love summertime, autumn is my absolute favorite. I am so excited that autumn is almost upon us! The changing leave, being able to wear boots and scarves, hot apple cider everywhere, all things fall make my heart sing.
Autumn isn't only my favorite time of year but it is a fantastic time of the year to get family photos! Washington and Oregon are stunning to begin with but the amazing colors that the change in weather brings adds even more beauty our picturesque landscapes and creates even more fantastic backdrops for photos.
My calendar is already starting to fill up, I only have a limited number of available sessions. If you are interested in booking a session please email me today at Brianna@BmwPhotography.net

Why Choose a Newborn Photography Session? | Little Frankie's Newborn Session | Vancouver, WA Newborn Photographer

Babies are only newborns for a short time. They are soft and squishy for such a small window, before you know it they are gaining weight and growing exponentially. Adjusting to life with a new baby can be a bit overwhelming and it is so easy to just let it pass by. But here is the thing, you can't turn back time, you can never get those moments back. Never forget those tiny toes and little fingers, the precious baby wrinkles and peach fuzz hair. Never forget how tiny they once were. Commemorate your sweet baby with a newborn session and have beautiful memories to cherish for years to come.
Newborn photography is a luxury. Anyone can go to a chain studio and get a cheap package of photos but you will miss the quality, devotion and unique aspect to your child's newborn photographs.
Join me next Wednesday when I tell you how to choose your photographer and until then enjoy these precious photos from Frankie's newborn session
